SEC Football Week 11 Review

All right, I have given up trying to figure out what is going to happen from week to week in the SEC. The only thing I know for sure is your guess is as good as mine. Good thing I am not in Vegas, because I would be wearing a barrel right about now since I would have lost not only my shirt, but also pants and everything in between.

All right, let’s get to the week that was in the SEC:

South Carolina 36 – Florida 14

South Carolina reminds me of the two-face chick from Seinfeld: Sexy one minute and butt ugly the next.

Well, she looked pretty darn sexy on Saturday night as they made people forget their terrible performance in last week’s loss to Arkansas by blasting Florida 36-14 to win the SEC East.

Seinfeld

The Gamecocks won for the second time in 19 tries against Florida, and broke a twelve game losing streak in Gainesville. They will make their first appearance in the title game since the SEC went to a division format in 1992.

Tennessee 52 – Ole Miss 14

Vandy Tackle

Speaking off butt ugly suddenly turning into pretty darn hot are the Tennessee Vols. I predicted they would pull a goose egg in the SEC this year, and they proved me wrong in a big way as they hammered Ole Miss 52-14. That makes back-to-back games where the Vols have scored 50 or more points.

Hey Maybelle and Bubba, you can smile, since the Vols have finally won an SEC game!

Kentucky 38 – Vanderbilt 20

Man Watching Paint Dry

Randall Cobb ran for a career-high 170 yards and two touchdowns as Kentucky became bowl eligible with a 38-20 victory over Vanderbilt.

Cobb finished with 279 total yards, breaking the Kentucky record for all-purpose yards in a single season in the process.

I asked my Buddy, Coach B, if he watched the game. “Scoot, it came down to either this game or watching paint dry. Are you crazy? Of course I watched paint dry.”

Arkansas 58 – UTEP 21

Ark Fans

Just so I don’t lose you on this one since the game was a blowout, I added some pictures of Arkansas fans just to keep your attention…

Auburn 49 – Georgia 31

Well, Gregory, it won’t be Alabama seeing Carolina again for the SEC Championship, unless you want to buy a ticket. Cam Newton and Auburn took care of the SEC West with an overpowering 49-31 victory over Georgia.

Auburn Tiger Fans

Newton became the first player in Southeastern Conference history to pass for 2,000 yards and rush for 1,000 yards in a season.

He also saw the Dawgs take a first quarter lead of 21-7, which shocked the overflow crowd at Jordan-Hare. However, the back and forth game turned towards Auburn in the fourth quarter.

Cam Spam? Fig Newton? Next thing you know, the Auburn fans will be dressed up like Cam-olis, or Sir Isaac Newton. (Now there was a good lookin’ guy) By the way, I sure hope the Auburn fans don’t dress up like giant cannolis.

Cam Newton would be distracted the whole game and might jump into the stands for a quick snack between plays.

Alabama 30 – Mississippi State 10

Alabama got back on the winning track in dominating Mississippi State Saturday night in Tuscaloosa 30-10.

The Bulldogs were outmanned and did not look like the team that had garnered seven wins this season. Maybe the reason was the entire Mississippi State community was still in mourning over the tragic death of Bulldogs player Nick Bell. Bell died of Cancer soon after the illness was discovered this fall.

Bell’s death puts everything in proper perspective and reminds us that football is only a game. We at SEC Sportsfan send our sincerest sympathies and prayers to Bell’s family and are sure everyone who came in contact with him will celebrate the life of this exceptional young person.
