Some of the best and brightest students in the country are those who attend Vanderbilt University. So, if on occasion, their football team has returned less than stellar results, it's been accepted.

After all, Vanderbilt is an institution of higher learning where learning is king and football is not a priority. Well, some might think so but, then again, they've never been to Vandy's Dudley Field on game day.

Vanderbilt University is located in Nashville, Tennessee. With football season tickets starting at just $99, compared to The University of Florida's price tag of $224, it's often assumed that the football program doesn't have the support that many of the other schools in the SEC have. But if you've been to the country music capital of the USA, then you know things aren't always what they seem.

Some like to think of Vandy as the refined school of the SEC and it may very well be so. If you lined up GPAs on the defensive line, chances are, Vandy players would stand out in a crowd regardless of who stood on the opposing team.

Still, Vanderbilt Commodores Football is making great strides. They even beat Georgia in Athens last season - so they are certainly no longer a push-over in the SEC. No matter what, true Vandy fans will always support their Commodores.

Football isn't the only sport in Nashville. Of course, die-hard fans would tend to disagree if they support the Tennessee Titans on Sunday and the Vanderbilt Commodores on College Gameday but the fact is, there's another team in town. More specifically, the Vandy basketball team.

Shan Foster, an upcoming senior at Vanderbilt plays basketball and his name is one that is beginning to carry a lot of weight in college basketball. The Vandy basketball program is strong and looks promising for the 2007-2008 season with Foster and many others expecting to give the Vandy fans their money's worth.

Vanderbilt's basketball players are adorned with an honor few men have. The gym at Vanderbilt, Memorial Gym, is one that holds a lot of history and many believe that the Commodore's gym is one of the luckiest for the home team. Vanderbilt has won over seventy-five percent of its home games (around 77-78%) so you can quickly understand why the basketball program at Vanderbilt has gained a lot of national attention.

Then there is baseball! Vanderbilt's baseball team was ranked #1 in the country -- for a time this past year. And Vandy's pitcher, David Price, was named NCAA Baseball Player of the Year!

So, clearly, sports don't take a back seat to anything at Vanderbilt!

Vanderbilt University is situated in the heart of southern culture. The Grand Ole Opry is still kicking for country music fans, and of course, there's always something to do around the city. Countless museums, endless shopping and breath-taking farms make a trip to Nashville (Capitol of Tennessee) more than just a trip to a ballgame. The city is a perfect weekend getaway.

For the Vanderbilt sports fan who wants the ultimate experience while visiting Nashville, Gaylord's Opryland Hotel is a grand experience. Gorgeous surroundings, manicured grounds, and marvelous hotel rooms and suites will spoil you -- but only after you've watched Vandy secure a win for the home team! It's time for a trip to Nashville!

Don't forget to take your Vanderbilt Commodores Merchandise and Apparel, Tickets, and Baseball Caps.
