WOW!! We were way, way off on the LSU Tigers MEN's Basketball team this year. However, the women's team met its high expectations.
The LSU mens basketball team ended up last in the SEC West with a 4-11 conference record and 17-15 overall. They did manage late-season wins agains Florida and Tennessee (in the SEC tournament). Otherwise, a terrible year.
The women's team had a great year. They ended up with the best record of all SEC West teams, with an 11-4 conference record and 30-8 overall. They finished the regular season ranked 9th nationally. They lost to Vandy in the SEC Tournament Championship game. They were a 3 seed in the NCAA tournament and made it all the way to Final Four where they lost to eventual champion Tennessee.
The rest of this page has not been updated yet, so you can chuckle when you read how wrong we were about the LSU men's team.
LSU Tigers Basketball is led by junior forward/center Glen Davis-- a top contender for the Wooden Award as the best college basketball player in the country. Great players win big games and Glen Davis will win lots of big games for LSU this year.
LSU went 27-9 last year and made it to the NCAA Final Four. They are ranked in the top 10 again this year and will challenge the Florida Gators for top billing in the SEC.
Look for the biggest game of the year in the SEC on February 24th when Florida plays LSU at LSU. Lots will be on the line -- including SEC regular season championship, seedings in the SEC and NCAA tournaments and player of the year awards (Glen Davis vs. Joakim Noah from Florida).
Prediction: This will be Florida's year in the SEC. They will win the regular season and SEC Tournament. But, in the NCAA tournament -- there are too many variables at this point to make a prediction. Louisiana State University will be in the mix for the NCAA championship.
Update: Sorry LSU Tigers Basketball Fans -- we were all very wrong this year...

LSU LADY TIGERS BASKETBALL
The LSU Lady Tigers Basketball team will win the SEC West. Together with the LSU's men's team, they combine for the best overall basketball program in the SEC this season.
Sylvia Fowles was a unanimous pick for the All-SEC preseason team. But, it will be tough to replace Seimone Augustus (WNBA rookie of the year).
Still, I pick LSU to win the SEC West and make it to the NCAA tournament. They'll win 2 games in the NCAA tournament before bowing out gracefully as one of the top women's basketball teams in the nation.
