ARKANSAS RAZORBACKS BASKETBALL

Arkansas Razorbacks Basketball did about as we expected this past season. The men's team came in 3rd in the SEC West with a 7-9 conference recored. But they made it to the SEC Tournament championship game. On the strength of their SEC tournament performance, the Razorbacks were the only SEC West team picked for the NCAA tournament. And, they were the only SEC team to lose in the first round.

The Arkansas women's basketball team were worse. They ended up 10th in the SEC with a 3-13 record. They were 18-13 overall. Nothing much else to say unfortunately.

Arkansas Razorbacks Basketball has come a long way since the Nolan Richardson era. Mostly they've come down. But, this year they have a decent shot at making the NCAA tournament -- probably as the #5 or #6 team from the SEC.

The Razorbacks come into the 2006 - 2007 season ranked about number 35 in several national polls. So, they are on the bubble as far as teams likely to make it to the NCAA tournament. But, they are to a rough start so far early in the SEC season.

Of course 64 teams are selected, but many come from automatic bids from the minor conferences. So, if you are in a major conference you need to be close to being in the top 25 or in the top 25 to ensure selection. The University of Arkansas Razorback Basketball team will be right there...on the bubble. Whether they get in or out will likely come down to a few lucky bouncing balls in a few close games.

ARKANSAS LADY RAZORBACKS BASKETBALL

The Arkansas Lady Razorbacks have 2004-05 leading scorer Sarah Pfeiffer returning after missing last season due to injury. That will help, but not enough. The Lady Razorbacks will end up in the bottom half of the SEC and not make the NCAA tournament.
