2007-2008 LSU Basketball

If you are looking for information about this year's team, go to
Current LSU Tigers Basketball Information.

You can read a visitor discussion of LSU basketball at the bottom of this page

LSU Tigers basketball ain't what it used to be. Long gone are the glory days of Dale Brown, Shaquille O'Neal and "Pistol" Pete Maravich. The Tigers did made it to the NCAA Final Four in 2006 under head coach John Brady. But, last year LSU was a big disappointment.

Louisiana State University (LSU) basketball ended up with a 17-15 record in the 2006-2007 season. This left them in last place in the SEC West. Much more than that was expected of Glen "Big Baby" Davis and the Tigers. They did manage to beat Tennessee in the SEC tournament, but then lost to Ole Miss 80-60 in the second round.

Glen Davis is now in the NBA, and unfortunately, John Brady and LSU has failed to replace him with a quality star player. Tasmin Mitchell will fill the void somewhat, but LSU basketball seems headed in the wrong direction.

The Tigers have spent the pre-season playing exhibition games in Toronto, Canada, where they played some of Canada's largest schools. The LSU mens basketball team has also been invited to participate in the EA Sports Maui Invitational during Thanksgiving week. This year will be the team's third competing in the tournament.

LSU will see a new addition to their staff this year after hiring Jeff Clapacs as the new director of operations for the Tigers. Clapacs will be replacing Scott Soprych who left LSU at the beginning of the summer for the assistant coaching position at Chicago State University.

Prediction:5th in the SEC West. No NCAA bid; no NIT bid. John Brady may be looking for a new job after the season. And this, only 2 years after a final four appearance!
