2012 LSU Tigers Football Preview

LSU will be good in 2013; but not that good. Look for a 3rd place finish in the SEC West. Here's our 2013 LSU Tigers Football Preview.

2011 SEC Record: 8-0 (1st SEC West) – Overall 13-1
Returning starters: 6 offense, 5 defense, 2 special teams

The Good: This team is solid on both lines, and wherever there is a question mark, a group of young, talented players will get their shot to see what they can do. Winning 13 games in a row, but not winning the National Championship is the best kind of motivation a team could hope for.

The Bad: Being in the SEC West is one. Losing Rueben Randle is another. And the tri-fecta is a weakness at linebacker as junior Kevin Minter is going to have to be a coach on the field to talented, but inexperienced players who are just now getting their chance to play.

The Ugly: Tyrann Mathieu, “The Honey Graham” needs to do everyone a favor by shutting up and playing football. This guy got some ink by making a few plays when the bright lights were shining, but a drug suspension, a cheap shot on Alabama’s Dre Kirpatrick, and talking trash after almost every play, especially when someone else made a tackle, makes me think this guy is more hot air than hot stuff.

Then in the off-season, he must have gone through trash talking withdrawals, so he got into a Twitter war with Alabama QB A.J. McCarron. Doesn’t that type of thing happen in high school?

If this guy becomes a football player, instead of a being a clown, he will lead LSU to a National Championship when January comes.

The Schedule: Road games at Auburn and Arkansas will be tough, but they get Alabama at home. A trip to College Station and Gainesville are never easy, but the Tigers get these two at the right time.

What will happen: LSU should run the table and once again have an opportunity to bring home a National Championship. Their game against Alabama will be a de facto semi-final as the winner should be undefeated and win the SEC. If that happens, that’s an automatic invitation to the BCS Championship.

Bowl Game: BCS National Championship

2012 Prediction: 1st in the SEC West.
