2010 Alabama Crimson Tide Soccer Preview
Alabama's Crimson Tide soccer team had a challenging season in 2009 and is hoping to show a lot of improvement in 2010. The team is considered weak by many, and indeed they did much worse in 2009 than they did previously in 2008.
The Crimson Tide had an overall score of 6-11-1, a drastic change from their previous record of 9-9-2. Their 2009 season was nowhere near as balanced in terms of wins and losses as 2008 was. Their 2009 SEC record was 2-8-1 making them the 5th in the West. They did not go to the SEC or the NCAA Tournaments. The Crimson Tide has not gone to any of the SEC Championships, and they have gone to the SEC Tournament 7 times, winning two of them.
The most valuable player the team had was Victoria Frederick, who scored 9 points for the team. Indeed no one else scored as high as she did. The team is a good mix of freshmen, seniors, sophomores, and juniors. This gives the team some experience and learning on top of fresh players. Hopefully, this will allow the Crimson Tide team to make a better stand in 2010. While it's doubtful the team will amaze everyone and beat many of the stronger SEC teams such as Florida, there's a chance they could still give some teams, such as Kentucky, a run for their money.
