2010 LSU Tigers Soccer Preview

In 2009, the LSU Tigers soccer team did very well. They ended the 2009 season with a great ranking - among the top 20 programs in the country, a title they held for five weeks straight. The National Soccer Coaches Association put them in the Top 25, and the Tigers were ranked at number 16 out of the 25.

The Tigers won over a Top 10 opponent, South Carolina, with a 1-0 victory. They were 15-4-5 and 8-2-1 SEC, with them being the 1st in the West SEC. In the Soccer Times Top 25, the Tigers ranked number 18 out of the nation. They also ranked 19th in Soccer American's Top 25. So they definitely were a team to contend with. They made it to the SEC finals, where they lost to the University of South Carolina, who won with a penalty kick. The Tigers SEC tournament record is 5-6-2, and they also have made to the second round of the 2009 NCAA Tournament.

The Tigers have a good chance in 2010. They have 12 letterwinners returning and 6 starters who are returning from the 2009 season. This gives them an excellent chance of advancing in 2010 and another good shot at the SEC crown.
