2010 Kentucky Wildcats Soccer Preview

Not too much seems to have changed between 2008 and 2009 for the Kentucky Wildcats. In 2008, they won only 5 games. The same held true for 2009. The Wildcats had an overall record of 5-10-4 and a SEC record of 2-8-1, finishing 6th in the East. They did not go to the SEC Tournament in 2009. They also didn't go to the NCAA Tournament. The team has won the SEC Championship once, and they have won the Tournament Championship twice out of the 15 times they attending. They have also been to the NCAA 7 times, but never won.

No player scored more than 9 points, and the honor of 9 points went to the most valuable player, Giuleana Lopez. Jenna Goblirsch and Stefani Kildare followed with 6 points and 5 points respectively. The only one of those three who is returning for 2010 is Goblirsch. This team has a lot of freshman and sophomores, with just a splash of seniors and juniors, and perhaps this lack of experience is what has led to the Wildcats having such a disappointing 2009.

They were able to win against 2 SEC opponents, LSU and Auburn, in 2009, so they have the capability. It remains to be seen whether they will do better in 2010, but with the experience they have and some determination, the Wildcats will probably greatly improve in 2010.
