2010 Florida Gators Soccer Preview
The Lady Gators soccer team had a very successful 2009 season. They were the first out of seven Gator teams to win Southeastern Conference titles during the 2009-10 season. It was the fourth crown in a row, giving the Lady Gators an 8-1-2 league record. Overall, the 2009 Lady Gators soccer team had a record of 16-6-2. Six starters played from the previous season's team, and that team reached the NCAA Second Round. In all, Florida ranked 15th on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll.
This year the team has 38 members, making it the largest team by five members in the 16 years the team has played. 28 of the members are either sophomores or freshmen, making the team a young one. 3 returning players were 2009 NSCAAA All-South Region team selections. Another great benefit for the 2010 team is that five of the top goal scorers will be back this year. 2 from the 2009 All-SEC teams and a 2007 and 2008 All-SEC first-team selection player. In fact, 3 of the new players, 2 freshmen and a sophomore, are members of age-group national team player pools.
It looks like 2010 will be a great season for Lady Gators soccer. They have an incredibly strong team. It will still be challenging but it looks like they have a great chance at yet another title.
