2010 Tennessee Volunteers Soccer Preview
For Tennessee Volunteers soccer fans, 2009 was a disappointing year. Overall, the team won 8 games, lost 9, and tied in 3. The biggest disappointment came from their performance in the SEC. For 2009, they won only 4 games in the SEC, losing 5 and tying 2. They finished 5th East and lost the first round of the 2009 SEC Tournament 0-1. They didn't make it to eh NCAA.
The best player that the Volunteers had in 2009 was Mick Imgram, who scored 12 of the 23 goals Tennessee had, and led the team with 27 points and had 4 game-winning goals. However, she was a senior and has now graduated and is no longer with the team. Now the team hopes to work around her loss and try to make 2010 much better.
16 players are returning to the 2010 team. The players include Molly Baird, a senior goalkeeper who started every game in 2009, and Chelsea Hatcher, who is a midfielder/forward and was on the preseason coaches' All-SEC team. With returning players, the team will be able to correct mistakes from the past season, and hopes to win the SEC East, SEC regular season, and the SEC tournament championship. If the team works together and learns, they have a good chance of having a great season.
