Alabama Crimson Tide Tennis

Alabama Crimson Tide tennis appears heading for a solid 2008 season. To back that up, a pre-season poll of all the SEC tennis coaches found the coaches predicted Alabama's men's tennis team would finish 3rd in the SEC West. Bama women's tennis is predicted to finish 5th.

In case you were wondering, Alabama's men's tennis team was ranked 14th nationally at the end of the 2007 season. The Tide's head coach, Billy Pate, believes there is no substitute for hard work and commitment. And, it shows when his players walk onto a tennis court.

Most Alabama tennis players attribute their success to the great tennis training summer camp they go through. Tradition and Pride go into the Tennis camp, which also makes it a great experience. Coach Pate is the director of the camp, and with his substantial tennis background, it's a great camp.

Two Alabama tennis players you may have heard of, because they "made it" on the professional tennis tour are Ellis Ferreira and Rick Leach. You may remember them winning the Australian Open doubles championship in 2000. In fact, Ferreira has won over two million dollars on tour.

Alabama Crimson Tide Women's Tennis

The Crimson Tide tennis ladies are led by Head Coach Jenny Mainz. One of the memorable events in 2007 for Alabama Tennis -- was a ceremony honoring Roberta Alison, Alabama's first female tennis player. Alabama's women's tennis team hopes to return to its 2006 form when it won the SEC West.
