South Carolina Gamecocks Tennis

South Carolina Gamecocks tennis is good solid SEC tennis. Not bad, not good -- but solid. Of course, just being solid in the SEC is really pretty good.

Anyway, the recent preseason poll that came out predicted that the USC men would finish 5th in the SEC East; the women 4th. At the end of the 2007 tennis season, the Gamecocks men's tennis team was ranked 63rd nationally (next to last of the 12 SEC tennis teams). But, the USC women ended the season ranked 32d.

The head coach for the South Carolina Gamecocks tennis men's team is Kent DeMars. The assistant coach for the USC gamecocks tennis men's team is Jeff Kefalos. Both coaches are optimistic and hopeful about the 2008 season.

The Gamecocks roster for the 2007-2008 season follows:

In the singles division the statistics for the USC gamecocks tennis men's team are fairly high. It's in the doubles division you start to see a few lower than average scores.

USC Gamecocks Women's Tennis

The USC Gamecocks tennis women's team reached the final rounds in the doubles matches in the Southern Intercollegiate Championships. Although, most of the singles fell out of the match early, the team placed pretty good.

It was a back and forth day for the USC gamecocks tennis women's team as the singles and doubles divisions. There were wins and losses among the team.

The head coach for the USC Gamecocks tennis women's team is Arlo Elkins and the assistant coach is Katrina Petrovic.

Going into the 2008 season the Gamecocks hope to excel and improve on their game. Practicing on every aspect of the initial tournaments and brushing up on their serves as well.
