Southeastern Conference Football is the Best -- Just Ask Sports Illustrated

What a great week for Southeastern Conference Football and for the first edition of "This Week in the SEC."

Nothing in SEC sports is bigger than football. And nothing in the wide world of sports is bigger than Sports Illustrated.

So, if you are a Southeastern Conference football fan you cannot miss the October 16th edition of Sports Illustrated. The cover story is titled "SEC Power: On Any Given Saturday The Southeastern Conference Proves it's the Toughest in the Country"

I couldn't have said it better myself.

This article is just another piece of evidence that the Southeastern Conference is the best sports conference in America.

And what a wonderful cover photo of Tennessee's Antonio Wardlow recovering his blocked punt in the Vols big win over the Bulldog's.

As a long-time, die-hard, Big Orange fan I was surprised, no shocked, by what happened in Athens Saturday night. Coming back from trailing 24-7 to win it 51-33 on the road, at Georgia, was ... amazing. Usually it seems to me that the Vols are on the other side of those kind of games. The win in Athens will take Fulmer off the hot seat for another year at least.

So, I was ecstatic over the win, but more frustrated than ever by the loss to Florida, by 1 point, after leading by ten, in the third quarter, at home, missing a field goal in the closing seconds. Ohhhh, that hurts.

Because, had Tennessee pulled that game out, as they could and should have, THEY would be #2 in the land right now and THEY would be in serious contention for another national championship. With, the tough part of their schedule behind them.

It is often heartbreaking to be a die-hard fan of Tennessee or any team in the SEC -- because the SEC is so tough. You have to play so many tough games that it is virtually impossible to make it through the season unscathed.

If only USC (for instance) had to play teams like Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, LSU, Auburn, Alabama, Arkansas, South Carolina, etc. year in and year out....

But, I wouldn't trade the SEC for any other conference. Especially during football season SEC Football, like fall colors, is simply glorious.
