2010 LSU Tigers Volleyball Preview
The LSU Tigers notched their fifth straight NCAA Tournament appearance during the 2009 season and were one of only 20 volleyball programs in the nation to accomplish this impressive feat during each of the last five seasons. LSU claimed the SEC regular season title by going 25-7 and the '09 Tigers ended the Florida Gator's 18-run year at the top of the league. Brittnee Cooper was one of 14 players to earn First-Team honors in 2009.
The Tigers have averaged 23 wins per season during the past five years and head coach Fran Flory has once again put together a grueling slate of competitors for her 2010 team. LSU's caliber of opponents' feature nine matches against 200 NCAA Tournament teams. The Tigers starts the season with a pair of tournaments in Texas.
LSU faces a challenging season, as the team must fill the void left by four exceptional seniors. Some key positions need replacing but Flory maintains that this doesn't change internal expectations. The 2010 team will rely heavily on returning players Angela Bensend, Brittney Johnson, Michele Williams and Lauren Waclawczyk to help carry the team towards what they hope is another SEC regular season title.
