Week Seven SEC Softball Power Rankings

Weekly thoughts from left field…

Top ranked Alabama lost their first SEC game of the season when they lost the second game of a midweek doubleheader at #11 Tennessee. The Lady Vols are quietly creeping back into the SEC race after losing 2 of 3 at Kentucky to start the season. Look for the Lady Vols to be a serious threat to win the SEC East with the tag team sister pitching tandem of Ivy and Ellen Renfroe. Freshman Ellen Renfroe has overtaken her sister has the ace of Tennessee’s pitching staff as she leads the Lady Vols with a 15-2 record.

Alabama holds a solid lead in the SEC West after taking their only two games against second place Auburn earlier in the season. LSU has stumbled during the start of SEC play and finds themselves playing catch-up and needing a lot of help to catch Alabama or Auburn in the SEC West race. Kentucky is still the surprise team in the SEC East, after taking their series with Tennessee and sweeping Miss. State last weekend, the Cats find themselves tied with Georgia for the division lead. Ole Miss has climbed out of the SEC West basement with their first two SEC wins last week over Arkansas at home and #22 ranked Auburn on the road. Here are your week 7 power rankings and league standings…..

#1 Alabama (33-2) Tide finally lost first SEC game of season.

#2 Georgia (26-4) Bulldogs swept Florida on road over weekend.

#3 Florida (30-4) The Gators dropped 3 straight against Georgia.

#4 Tennessee (27-5) Lady Vols are heating up after slow SEC start.

#5 Kentucky (22-7) Cats swept Miss. State at home over weekend.

#6 Auburn (28-5) Tigers lost first home game of season vs Ole Miss.

#7 LSU (18-12) The Tigers won only game they played last week.

#8 Miss State (15-17) The Dogs swept on road against Kentucky.

#9 South Carolina (17-15) USC has dropped 8 of last 9 games played.

#10 Ole Miss (12-24) Ole Miss won 2 of 5 SEC games last week.

#11 Arkansas (10-24) The Hogs broke a 10 game losing streak last week.
