2010-2011 Alabama Crimson Tide Swimming and Diving Preview

The Alabama Crimson Tide is placed firmly in the middle of the SEC, and will have its chances to compete for both the SEC Championship and the National Championship. The men's program is ranked highly, and should have no problem with being invited to participate in the NCAA Championship, and the women look to be poised to breakout this season and really put the rest of the SEC women's teams on notice.

The Crimson Tide's men are loaded with talent as well as bodies. It has over 30 men swimming for the squad, and all have competed extremely hard for their spots. This has given the younger athletes valuable experience entering this season, which is always a big plus going into a pivotal season. Seniors Catalin Cosma and Denes Zubcsek are All-American swimmers that are looking to lead their team into a new era at Alabama.

At first glance, the women's swimming and diving team does not look as potent as the men's, as they are extremely youthful all around the program. This does not mean they have no experience, however, and these experienced swimmers are already teaching the younger ones how to compete at a high level. Kate Shannon Gray and Persson are the best players that are on the returning roster, and they are very excited to begin the new season.

If the men and women can come together as teams, then they can definitely make a push for the SEC and NCAA crowns. They have all the pieces in place to succeed, and this looks to be a big year for the program as a whole. With the talent and depth both teams have, there is no reason why they should not compete in every meet along the course of the season.
