2008 AUBURN TIGERS GYMNASTICS

If you are looking for our Current Auburn Tigers Gymnastics page, check out Auburn Tigers Gymnastics.

The Auburn Tigers gymnastics team is looking to move up in the SEC in 2008. Of course, that's a tough order. As of right now, the Lady Tiger gymnasts are the only SEC gymnastics team that is not nationally ranked.

However, that may change soon. The Tigers' coaching staff is led by head coach Jeff Thompson, along with the associate head coach Rachelle Thompson know this year's gymnastics program will be a success.

The Auburn Tigers gymnastics roster this year is:

Becky Blahyj/freshman

Lauren Brzostowski/freshman

Julie Dwyer/senior

Kayla Gies/senior

Aimee Goheen/senior

Katie Hurley/freshman

Rachel Inniss/freshman

A.J. Mills/junior

Carmen Nelms/sophomore

Karmen Pinckney/senior

Lindsey Puckett/junior

Claire Seiffert/junior

Leah Vining/freshman

Krissy Voss/sophomore

Shannon Walpole/freshman

All of the team members this year come from surrounding club teams.

The first event this year will be in Kentucky against the Kentucky Wildcats.

However that doesn't deter the ladies in the least, because of all the practicing on their routines throughout the season, they come to these events well prepared and ready.

The NCAA Championships are going to be held in Athens, Georgia and by the time the Tigers reach this point in time, it will be their hope to be running in the highest rank possible. They have excellent routines this year and could actually see the medals coming to their teams in many events, throughout the year.

During the 2007 season, the Auburn Tigers gymnastics team had five winning events. The girls have suffered some injuries over the past few seasons. Or in some cases team members have had to miss events or gymnastic meets altogether.

But, for the most part the Auburn Tigers gymnastics team has put forth more effort in attendance for this season, and it went a lot better. They know that this kind of performance will follow into the 2008 season too.

Although they had seven losses during the 2007 season, they were not discouraged. They have different routines on mat, tumbling, the balance beam, as well as different gymnastic styles of ending a routine. Dance and flexibility plays a big role for the Lady Tigers and their routines. Many of them are flexible and well known for their jump dancing skill.

The coaches encouraged them to do their best, as that's what really mattered.

This next season, the team will have many seniors. Their experience helps them to be more aware of routines, rules, and the way the point standings are rated.

The ladies have been working on new routines as well as new ideas for routines - things that will thrill the judges and the spectators. Make sure that you see all the action by ordering your Tigers Tickets, Merchandise and Apparel and Baseball Caps ahead of time.

One fun thing that the Auburn Tigers gymnastics team did on an off Sunday during their 2007 season was have a day for the gymnastics team and their little sisters. Some parents, the coaches and gymnasts enjoyed laughs with homemade snacks and drinks, while watching the little sisters design t shirts as part of the activities between the team and their siblings. Maybe they'll do the same this season too.
