Week Four SEC Baseball Power Poll Rankings

My view from the outfield bleachers…..

Welcome back to the weekly SEC Power Poll everyone. It was a good week for all SEC members as everyone had a winning record in games this week with the exception of Auburn, which went 2-2, but both losses were to the #8 ranked Arizona State Sun Devils in a 3 game series at home this past weekend.

The winner of all winners this past week were the Georgia Bulldogs, who won all five of there contest and got their overall record back to .500 at 8 wins and 8 losses on the season. The Dawgs beat SEC member Alabama before travelling out west to California and winning three straight in Dodger Stadium against USC, St. Marys and #10 UCLA. The Dawgs should be coming back home this week with a ton of confidence.

Tennessee won all six games they played last week, two against New Orleans and four against Manhattan and have won seven straight overall. The Vols are 13-2 on the season, but have yet to play a road game. We will see how well the Vols do outside of Knoxville, but no one can knock the great start they have gotten themselves off to so far. Arkansas and South Carolina both had good weeks with the Hogs winning three out of four games in San Diego and the Gamecocks also won three out of four including a win over their hated rivals, Clemson, which they have beaten two out of three times this season.

The Vanderbilt Commodores own the SEC’s longest winning streak which is at nine games and counting now after winning five last week. The Commodores also sit atop the Power Poll once again as they have continued to pile up the wins before SEC play begins. I saved the best for last this week as I have got to mention how well the LSU Tigers did this past week. The Tigers welcomed the #12 ranked Titans of Cal.

State Fullerton to Baton Rouge for a three game series last weekend and took a huge bite out of their west coast visitors. LSU won both Friday and Saturday match-ups by the same exact 7-6 score and then battered the Titans on Sunday for a 10-2 victory and series sweep. The Tigers are now 15-1 on the season and have a four game winning streak established for themselves. Well, I’ll hold you from it no longer… Here is this weeks Power Poll.

SEC POWER Poll Rankings

1- Vanderbilt (16-1) The #2 ranked Dores are #1 in our eyes right now.

2- LSU (15-1) Are the 2009 CWS Champions on track for a 2011 title?

3- Florida (14-2) The #1 Gators finally dropped from our top spot.

4- S. Carolina (11-2) Gamecocks won 2 of 3 game series vs Clemson.
