The Vanderbilt swimming and diving season schedule was released on August 30th, 2007. The first home meet Vanderbilt has had since the program was reestablished will be the Centennial Sportsplex on January 11th, where Miami will go up against the Dores. The last home meet for Vandy was in 1992.

The season opened for the Commodores swim team on October 13th with a meet against Southern Illinois in Carbondale. This is the Dores'second season and their first Southeastern Conference meet is on Novemeber 2nd against rivals Alabama and LSU. The Southeastern Conference will be held in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

The regular Vanderbilt 2007 season portion will be finished on November 19th, but not before a Western Kentucky Invite in Bowling Green. 2008 will open with a home meet again Miami, which will be a rather difficult meet for the team due to Miami having 20 national champions.

The finale for the regular season will be January 26th with a meet against Georgia Tech and Emory in Atlanta, Georgia. Before that the Vanderbilt Commodores swimming and diving team has two road games; both in Fayetteville, Arkansas which will be on January 19th. Vanderbilt will have a dual-meet again the Arkansas Lady Backs.

The Southeastern Conference Championships will be held February 20th through the 23rd in Tuscaloosa, and then the Vandy swimmers and divers hope to travel to Columbus, Ohio for the NCAA Championships on March 20th through the 22nd.

Vanderbilt has ten new competitors this year with the addition of All-Americans Rachel Dryer, Jennifer Molchan, and Leigh-Ann Axt. Also, the Vanderbilt Commodores swimming and diving team retains the 7 lettered team members from last year's squad. Jeremy Organ, head coach for Vanderbilt, has the athletes going up against Southern Illinois this season. Organ knows that the Southern Illinois team is difficult to beat with a strong team that does well in all of their conferences, but he wanted to keep the tradition of the Vanderbilt Commodores swimming and diving team having a meet with Illinois. He also feels that some of Vanderbilt Commodores swimming and diving team members could match up with Southern Illinois despite the new rebuilding of the team.

While the Vanderbilt Commodores swimming and diving team is still trying to work out the initial kinks of a new team, that isn't keeping head coach Jeremy Organ from pushing his athletes to the top of their game. The best way to work through the humps is by seeing what the team is really made of and how well they stand up against pressure and the more difficult meets.

By competing against teams like Southern Illinios it's hoped that Vanderbilt swimmers will gain confidence in their abilities against such a stronger (SEC) swim team.
