Congrats to the Ole Miss Men's Tennis team for winning the 2009 SEC Tennis Championship and making it to the quarter-finals in the NCAA Tennis Tournament. The reason? Miss. freshman Devin Britton who won the 2009 NCAA Individual Men's tennis title. He was the first freshman to do that since 1996; first unseeded player to win it all since '97 and first ever in University of Mississippi tennis history. Congrats! (Update: Devin lost in the first round of the U.S. Open to Roger Federer)

The Ole Miss Rebels men's Tennis team had two good seasons in 2007 and 2008. It finished the 2007 season with 24-5 overall and 9-2 sec record.


In 2008 the Rebels enjoyed a successful season that saw the Rebels earn their second consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and win four tournament titles. It also finished the year with the same 24-5 overall and 9-2 record.Ole Miss, ranked No. 30 in Golfweek, will return senior All-SEC honoree Jesse Speirs and sophomore Johnny Delprete from the last year's NCAA squad to the 2009 roster. The 2008 NCAA Quarterfinalist Ole Miss Rebels men's Tennis team looks strong under the head coach Ernest Ross for the upcoming season.


Last Season's Discussion:

Ole Miss Rebels Tennis looks GREAT for 2008. In fact, a recently released poll of all the SEC tennis coaches, found that the Old Miss men's tennis team is predicted to WIN the SEC! Even beating out perennial power -- Georgia. The Rebel Ladies are predicted to come in 4th in the the SEC West.





How'd the Rebs fare in 2007? Well, the men's team ended the season ranked 7th nationally. However, the Lady Rebs were unranked.

The Ole Miss Rebels men's tennis head coach is Billy Chadwick and the assistant coach is Toby Hansson.


The Ole Miss Rebels tennis men's team roster for the 2007-2008 season is like this-

  • Jonas Berg a junior from Helsingborg, Sweden. His height is 5'10
  • Jakob Laeson a senior from Lidkoping, Sweden. His height is 6'0
  • Kalle Norberg a sophomore from Uppsala, Sweden. his height is 5'9
  • Robbye Poole a senior from Summerville, South Carolina. His height is 6'0
  • Chris Rea a senior from Madison, Mississippi. His height is 6'0
  • Bram Ten Berge a senior from Maarssen, the Netherlands. his height is 6'3
  • Erling Tveit a senior from Oslo, Norway. His height is 6'3
  • Matthias Wellermann a senior from Lingen, Germany. His height is 6'7



2009 Ole Miss Rebels Women's Tennis


LSU Tigers Women's Tennis continued its mediocre performance during the last two seasons.It finished the 2007 season with a 16-10 overall and 5-6 SEC record, ranked 36th nationally. In 2008 the LSU Tigers repeated almost same performance as it finished the year with a 15-10 overall and 6-5 SEC record. It came out as sixth in SEC and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2008 season.The LSU Tigers returns such following players as Megan Falcon, Mykala Hedberg, Nicole Kantor, Staten Spencer, Hannah Robinson, Kylie Adamek, Sloane Mathis, and Chandler Kleinpeter for the 2009 roster.Under the head coach Tony Minnis, who enters his 18th with the team, the LSU Tigers looks no less promising for the next season.


Last Season's Discussion:

The coach for the women's tennis team is Mark Beyers and the assistant coach is Whitt Taber. The Ole Miss Rebels women's tennis team is struggling with the service game as well as in the singles competition. However, the coaches believe those issues will improve as the season wears on.

The University of Mississippi women's tennis team roster for the 2007-2008 season includes:

  • Soledad Podlipnik a sophomore from Santiago, Chile her height is 5'6
  • Yana Kireeva is a freshman from Moscow, Russia her height is 5'6
  • Nika Koukhartchouk a senior from Kaliningrad, Russia.Her height is 5'9
  • Karen Nijssen is a freshman from Heerhoguwaard, Holland. her height is 5'10
  • Mimi Renaudin is a senior from Mandeville, Louisiana. Her height is 5'5
  • Preethi Subramanian is a senior from Coimbatore, India. her height is 5'8
  • Laura Van de Stroet is a freshman from Waalre, Holland. Her height is 5'8
  • Elizabeth Wood is a sophomore from Spring, Texas. Her height is 5'8
