What's Really Important

I'm a UT/Ohio State Fan. I went to OSU but my money and my children went to UT. I love college football but what I don't understand is why we place it on such a high pedestal.

At its essence, isn't college about education? Sure college athletics are fun and instill school spirit in the students; I can't argue with that.

But there's something fundamentally wrong with our priorities when budgets for faculty and educational programs are cut while recruiting budgets and coaches salaries enter the realm of the obsurd.

Phil Fulmer is probably a very nice fellow but with all due respect, he's not part of the University's core purpose - education.

Let's get our priorities straight folks.
