Oregon Turnover Margin Greater than Auburn's

by texasduckfan

Please check your stats before making what you think will be the key to this game. This is what you wrote

"the Auburn defense is prone to creating turnovers exactly when it needs them. Oregon's defense has not shown that it can do that as efficiently, and I believe that will be the deciding factor in this game."

Oregon's defense has arguably been the best team in the country at creating timely turnovers Here are the actual stats

?1) Virginia Tech, plus-1.38 per game (30-12)
?7) Oregon, plus-1.08 per game (35-22)?
33) Auburn, plus-.38 per game (20-15)

Oregon has forced 15 MORE turnovers than Auburn. Again the only reason I am mentioning this is because the crux of your article says that this will be the deciding factor and Auburn has been better than Oregon in this stat. Not even close to being factual!

Auburn vs Oregon Turnover Margin

Thanks for the comment. You are right of course and I adjusted the article a bit to clarify that what we were talking about is not just number of turnovers, but more importantly, when they came, what kind of game, how important were they? That's where Oregon's Defense can't compare to Auburn's -- simply because for the most part Oregon's defense was playing in blow-out games. That's when turnovers are easy.

I think Auburn's defense will get a big turnover late in the game to win the NC for Auburn. As, they've done before. Many times.

This is where the toughness of an SEC schedule pays off. As it has in each BCS Championship game in the past 5 years.

I agree with the other comment. Who does Oregon play? NOBODY.
