Good site, I wish that the big 12 got to count the big 8 stats in their column, but for some weird reason the big 12 doesn't recognize the big 8 as their parent conference... oh well.

I will always be a big 8 guy at heart! I do admit that the SEC has been a beast and the big 12 is getting to that level.

Still the two best conferences in all of cfb!!!

Pac 10 Best

by Alan Worthington -- Pac-10 Fan

Your statistics are a bit skewed. The overall performance record for Pac-10 is a bit limited because the Pac-10 limited itself to the Rose Bowl only for decades. They were late in entering any bowl.

The head to head competition shows a much closer competition. Frankly, if the SEC didn't play so many weak teams South Florida(?) Troy - in Greece maybe with Helen of- they might not get invited to so many bogus bowls.

However, I guess your fantasy shouldn't be shattered.

The Pac-10 has won more national titles in all sports than any other. You can look it up.

your numbers are skewed

by David

since the ACC and SEC have not been around for the same number of years it seems silly to compare overall bowl wins. a confrence with schools with older football progams will definitely have more bowls. see what the bowl record is beginning with the year the youngest team the two confrences boast, and compare numbers then.

Editor's Note: We used the numbers provided by the NCAA at http://www.ncaa.org/library/records/football/football_records_book/2007/2007_d1_football_records_book.pdf

The numbers include all bowl games ever played by current members of each conference. Fairest way, we think.

Mountain West Conference Football Bowl Record

Hey elitist SEC ****

The Mountain West Conference is 4-1 in bowl games, best in the country this year. Can't wait for BYU to beat an SEC team in the Sugar bowl next year.

Couple of things

I like how Arkansas and South Carolina joined the SEC relatively recently (1992) but, FSU joined the ACC very recently (also 1992). Also, the ACC used to restrict who could go to bowls. Not as bad as the Big Ten but some teams were held back.

If the following statement from above is true, "the Big Ten only allowed one team to play in a bowl game up until 1976. The Big Ten Champ played in the Rose Bowl; everyone else went home". If that's true, then how has the conference played in from 209 to 238 bowl games?
