SEC Football 2014
Week 9 Review and Week 10 Preview

By - Kory Kinslow

It was a big week in the SEC. Arkansas came out and hammered UAB. They're still searching for that first SEC win in almost two years. Mississippi State played a very game Kentucky team. I will admit that Kentucky played much better than I thought they would. Mississippi State proved why they are ranked number one and took care of business. Missouri beat Vanderbilt in a SEC East game. Missouri gets to 6 wins with only two losses, but no key big wins.

Ole Miss lost in a nail biter to LSU. LSU played about as good as I've seen them play, while Ole Miss seemed off of their game. Auburn beat South Carolina in a close one. South Carolina played a pretty good game, but in the end it wasn't enough. Alabama beat Tennessee. I thought Tennessee might play well, and I think they made their fans proud. They may be a season away from winning or contending to win the East. Alabama keeps hopes alive for the playoff.

The College Football Playoff standings came out and three SEC West teams are in the top 4 with Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and Auburn in the mix. Sitting just on the outside is Alabama. This is going to be big going into some head to head games with some of these teams eliminating one another, depending on what the rest of the teams in the country do.

This week in the SEC we have some big and important games. One game that isn't big, but important, is Texas A&M playing UL Monroe. Monroe has pulled off some big wins or at least given good games to SEC teams over the years and Texas A&M needs that win. Florida will play Georgia. Georgia needs to win all the games they're supposed to to get into that top 4.

Kentucky and Missouri play in a game of two teams with a lot of potential. I truly believe we will see Kentucky come out on top in a close one. Auburn and Ole Miss play in a head to head game that will keep one on the top 4 and probably knock the loser out of that standing. Vanderbilt plays Old Dominion and the other SEC teams need them to win for their wins against Vandy to look like a decent win.

Arkansas plays Mississippi State. Mississippi State needs to continue winning and Arkansas is going to knock someone off, I don't think will be State though. Tennessee and South Carolina will play in a game that is important for both, as far as getting bowl eligible goes. I think that South Carolina will suffer a let down after last week's big loss and the Volunteers will take it by two touchdowns.
