SEC Academics...pathetic!

How about we handicap the winning percentages by the number of students that would be eligible to be admitted in a big ten school...

Oh, that's right, academics are secondary to Y'all in the south....

Editor's Note:You know, I hear this all the time from Big Ten fans. And, I suspect there is some truth to it. But, I'd like someone to do a bit of research and give us some actual numbers. I know Florida does well with academics, as well as Vanderbilt of course. Beyond that, I won't comment....

Actually, Florida has higher entrance requirements than does Ohio St.

Then again, losers always want to play the academic card.

We're talking football not nuclear fision.

What about the Big 10 not even having a conference championship..its possible that 2 teams in your conference can go undefeated...unbelievable...its so clear why OSU waltzed into a national championship game only to be pooped on.

Admission 'standards' mean squank
by: Anonymous

Admission standards mean nothing if the entire culture is poisoned.
I went to high school in two places--Louisiana and Oregon. At the high school in LA almost all the football players were in special classes together. Everybody passed...EVERYBODY. An awful lot of them with the minimum required 66%. Great athletes got an extra special bump. In fact football was placed so much higher than academics that a teacher who was prone to fail athletes could expect walking papers.
When our family moved to OR this was not the case. Football was important, but there were no special classes or accommodations made. You don't pass, you don't play, period. And rather than the coach being pissed at the teacher who failed the student, the onus was on the student to get his own self in order.
Rather than admissions, take a look at graduation rates of the teams. I believe Joe Paterno at Penn State usually leads in that category.
