Only Count January Bowl Games

by Brian
(Minnesota)

With all the extra Bowl games, look at bowl games in January only. It's not the best cut of good and bad Bowls, but it's simple and makes a realistic good vs. bad Bowl barometer. Also, I'm not a BcS fan, so I don't think BcS only games is as good of a measure (think playoff).

In January, your conference's better teams are playing, so the Bowl record is reflecting how good the top of the conference is. It's great to send 10 of 12, but this shows dominance over depth.

I don't have the exact numbers, maybe that could be added? I've done it the last few years and it again shows the SEC is even more impressive!

Not Buying It.

Impressive January SEC Bowl Wins:
Florida over Cincy. (I really wish we got to see Brian Kelly still coach this game)

Ole Miss over #19 Oklahoma State

Not Impressive:
Auburn by three over Northwestern.
I mean its Northwestern. Kafka threw 5, thats right FIVE, interceptions and Auburn only won by three.

Arkansas by three over East Carolina.
It took 4 missed EC field goals and an overtime. Wow.

Losses:
Penn State over LSU
Connecticut over South Carolina

The SEC should be thankful that they went 4-2. It should have been 2-4.

SEC
by: Anonymous

The SEC and there fans are all great for college football. But, they stake claim to be the top football conference every year! but come on, 5 - 5 or 6 - 4 doesn't sell the conference as "the best" by any stretch. Its all about money, SEC propaganda and downright rigging of games was to try and guarantee two undefeated SEC teams at the end of a season and making sure the conference had its automatic bid to the National Championship Game
