Nashville Looking for MLS Glory in 2022

Professional soccer in the United States is about to take center stage with the new MLS season ready to kick off. February 26th is the intended start date with 28 franchise teams looking to lift the MLS Cup when the campaign concludes in October.

Nashville Looking for MLS Glory in 2022

Among those looking to fly the flag for the SEC region are Nashville Soccer Club. It would be something of a surprise if they were to claim silverware in 2022 but, as we saw in the last edition of Major League Soccer, we shouldn’t be ruling out the underdogs.

Ready for 2022

The club was only founded in 2017 but, unlike some other new franchises who have struggled, Nashville SC are a solid force in MLS. In 2021, head coach Gary Smith took his team all the way to the Conference Semifinals.

The team finished third in the Eastern Conference and seventh overall but a strong record in the knockouts saw Nashville progress to the last eight of the entire competition.

Having previously competed in the USL, this was a notable achievement for the club. Nashville’s first MLS season came in 2020 and a Conference semifinal slot was their reward once again.

When the struggles of other new franchises such as Austin FC and Inter Miami are taken into account, these are impressive returns. The question is, can Nashville SC go one stage further in 2022?

MLS Teams Ranked

The sportsbooks offer a sound, neutral insight as to how MLS teams are likely to perform and, according to sports betting sites in India and beyond, Gary Smith’s Nashville are among the chasing pack.

Using odds supplied by bookmakers associated with Asiabet.org, Seattle Sounders are the favorites to win the MLS Cup, closely followed by Los Angeles FC. Others who feature at the top of the market leaderboard include Orlando City, New England Revolution and Sporting Kansas City.

Nashville, along with other franchises including Philadelphia Union and New York City FC follow on with mid-range odds.

When the new season starts, those MLS Cup markets will transfer to the live section of every betting platform and they will remain in place until the winner is crowned. Asiabet.org will maintain those odds and readers can also take in news and opinion articles relating to the soccer world.

With all of that information to hand, it’s also possible to get involved with the markets. Each of the sportsbooks referenced on the website will be ready to take on new customers and there are welcome promotions listed in most places.

After registering, a choice of funding options can get the account moving while fast help facilities and other soccer markets will also be accessible.

It’s a solid option for MLS betting but should Nashville be taken seriously in 2022?

Can Nashville do it?

As champions New York City proved last season, the main target for any team is to reach the playoffs. From that point, the knockout sequence that follows means anything can happen. Nashville also proved that theory, finishing seventh in the overall standings before making it through to the last eight.

It should also be remembered that their Conference semifinal defeat came via a penalty shootout. Penalties offer something of a lottery and can go either way in these death stages.

Among the key men for Nashville this season will be CJ Sapong. The experienced striker joined up at the Nissan Stadium at the start of 2021 and returned a healthy 12 goals in 33 games. At the same time, the coach will want to see an improvement from fellow striker Daniel Rios.

The big news in the offseason sees a number of trades into the franchise. Much will be expected of Teal Bunbury who joins Nashville after seven years with New England Revolution. The USMNT international brings experience and goals to the Nissan Stadium.

Three more players are confirmed for the new MLS season. Striker Ethan Zubak, midfielder Sean Davis and defender Josh Bauer are the men hoping to drive their new team to those MLS playoffs once again.

For a team that only joined MLS in 2020, two consecutive Conference semifinal slots is an impressive achievement and it’s one that offers Nashville a platform in 2022.
