Bill Russell Was the Best Player in NBA History

The answer to this question is simple. Bill Russell is the best player to ever play in the NBA. Why?

Because he has the most championships by any player(11). He was on a team that won eight in a row. I think the best is defined as winning, and nobody won more Championships then Russell.

I know Jordan, Chamberlain, and Johnson might have done more with the individual awards, but when it is all said and done name one player who won more championships then Russell.

This age old argument cannot be based on rings attained.
1. Phil Jackson has 12 rings.
2. Robert Horry has 7 rings to Michael Jordan's 6 rings. Does that mean that Horry was better than Michael?
Rings don't make you better or the best. They just mean you played with a better team.
Adrian Branch got a ring with L.A. riding the bench. Does that mean he was better than Charles Barkley, Karl Malone, Patrick Ewing? NO! You probably don't even know who he is.

In the NFL, Trent Dilfer won a superbowl ring with the Ravens. Was he anywhere close to Dan Marino who won none?

The "Best because of the ring" thing needs to be put to rest.
