Big Ten Vs. Sec in Bowl Games

by Greg
(Redford, Michigan, USA)

The Sec might lead the Big Ten in all time head to head victories, but, the Big Ten leads in head to head bowl game victories. 91-86-6.

I do think that matters don't you SEC fans. I think both conferences are great. But, if this SEC web sight is going to claim that SEC is far better then all other conferences they should be Bold enough to admit the Big Ten has a better head to head Bowl record against them. Don't you think?

So True

So many SEC fans are happy to focus on the past year, but truth be told the best from their respective conferences facing up leaves the Big Ten on top.

Sec Sucks
by: Anonymous

The sec is actually terribler garbage I was born and raised in Mississippi and they stink because the sec is the minor leagues compared to the big ten. Look at the bowl records the big ten is better which means as much as you thing the sec is better the big ten is better

Make the SEC travel and level the playing field
by: Anonymous

Concerning Bowl games, let the SEC travel far from home like the other conferences have to do. If they had to travel they would lose many more bowl games.
For example, look at their record versus the PAC 10 since 2000 in regular season games and you'll see it's 10 to 6 in favor of the West coast teams. The SEC had homefield advantage in 9 of those 16 games and still is behind.
Also, the Big 10 plays them very evenly in bowl games and especially so considering the northern schools always have to travel south to play aginst them.

The SEC won't travel north to play. Like the Wizard of Oz, folks would then see through the smokescreen and ESPN would no longer suck up to them.

Be honest
by: SEC FAN

Level the playing field? Are you kidding me! Let's be honest here. The truth is Ohio State and Michigan are the only teams in the Big Ten that are usually legit big time teams, and that has not been the case the last few years, but I'm sure they'll be back. The rest of the league is just not very impressive. When Michigan and Ohio State looks at the conference schedule, the only game that scares them is their rivalry. Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois and Minnesota?????? Please! In the SEC that list is a lot longer..Florida, BAMA, LSU, Auburn, Georgia and Tennessee for starters. Further, after the regular season you may have to face one of these monsters again in the Championship game. Finally, we all saw Ohio State get beat thoroughly by an SEC team with loses. It's pretty cut and dry that Ohio State would not have had as good a record if they played in the SEC.

Really?
by: Anonymous

So...head to head bowl games. look at the total bowl game record vs other teams and you'll realize that the sec has been to over 100 more bowl games than the big ten, and also has a winning record in bowl games rather than a losing one. When florida beat ohio state in ARIZONA, that was far for both teams, so don't say that if we had to travel we would lose... Sec all the way.

Be realistic
by: Anonymous

Both the big 10 and SEC are overall great conferences. However, lets put the SEC against a conference that actually has a defense. Personally I think the BSC system is a complete joke and is 100% about tv ratings not about what schools are the best. First get rid of the current rating system and bring in a playoff system based off wins/loses. Not well we think this school has to play harder schools compared to this school. All the misc conferences actually end up playing extremely tough schedules against there conference. The smaller conferences that rarely get ranked well actually play a tough schedule due to the smaller recruiting abilities of those schools. Finally they seriously need to punish schools equally. Certain schools get away with whatever they want to do regardless of it being illegal or not by NCAA rules yet other schools get punished.

In other words the NCAA and BCS system need to be investigated and believe it should be an independent panel that has nothing to do with any of them.

Big ten in bowls since 2000
by: Anonymous

The BIG TEN in bowl games as a whole are HORRID!

Last yr, was the first time in the decade that the conference posted a winning record overall in bowls.

They get blown out in most games and you don't have to look very far for examples.

Look at what Bama did to MI ST and MISS ST did to MI

Texas Tech had that game put away, and let NW back into it or it would have been a blow out also!

The big ten as a whole is overrated and their record out of conference speaks for itself!

HORRID!

OK Look
by: Pete Van Weird

OK, look.....as far as travel is concerned, no one can play in the snow, so yes, bowl games are held in the South. Go figure. In 2010, the big eleven got spanked by the SEC. Their teams go seven and one and ours go five and three in conference play, and then we beat the hell out of them in bowl games.I don't really care about 1942. I mean now. Check your record against Florida, oh mighty OSU. And this year you squeaked against a mediocre Arkansas team. What about you, Michigan State, against the SEC? Michigan? Michigan? Been to Mississippi lately? Wisconsin? Puh-leeze! Let's see...over the past five years, wonder where the National Champions came from? So don't go bragging about the Acme Widget bowl win over one of our six and six teams, big eleven, go back to your frozen tundra and work on your math.

by: Pete V. Weird

.....oh, yeah......you are correct.....it isn't the big 11 any more, it is now the big 12. Can you spell money? Two divisions? Anyone...anyone??? You still suck in bowls, and you still suck against the SEC in modern bowl games. And furthermore, I can take at least five high school teams from the state of Georgia alone and come up and whip any similar team (in terms of school size) you can put on the field. But let's play it on a surface that, in the words of Joe Namath, ....cows can eat. Because is a cow can't eat it, I ain't playing on it. And on top of that, you just can't spell. Jack!

SEC let's be real
by: Brutus2

Before you get to bumpin your gums, Check the pedigree of your coaches in the SEC they learned how to play football from and thru the cradle of coaches. Les Miles played high school ball in Ohio, College ball at Michigan learned the game from Bo Schembechler who was an assistant for Woody Hayes Go Bucs!

Nick Saban spent alot of time in the cradle learning the game. He played college ball at Kent State, Assisted at Kent State, Ohio State and Michigan State. First Head coaching job was with Toledo.

So, to you SEC king of the world folks, It would be appreciated if you just said thanks and went on your way, earlier someone commmented that no one plays in the snow, wrong answer, the big 10 does it every season., Football is played in all wheather on all levels, I understand the bowls are money driven, the better the wheather the bigger the opportunity for more fans, I would love to see the bowl games played north of the Mason Dixon. I notice the SEC never schedules regular season games that travel north of the Mason Dixon past Sept. I would love to see, LSU, Alabama any of them play a marquee make or break game, like Ohio State Does early in the season. But we all know why, so, until I see different I can't believe the SEC hype. Truly Fair Wheather!

LSU played Oregan to start the season off and followed that up with West Virginia who at the time was considered a top 25 team. How much more make our break can it get.

Why you cannot compare
by: Anonymous

Unfortunate that the Big Ten has to be a conference of higher learning, It is unfortunate that the SEC can get away with essentially hiring players. Check out the disparity in GPA requirements between the conferences. The reason the SEC can get top recruits is because the payers can well candidly be dumber than a stump. The Big Ten wins and educates, try that SEC. The Big Ten produces most of tomorrow’s executives and the most professional athletes look it up. Schools like Michigan, Northwestern, Wisconsin, Pen State, and Ohio State cannot enroll student athletes that past a field sobriety test, they actually need to find student athletes that can also perform in the class room. Really tough to compare the SEC (minor juvenile league) with a conference that wins and provides an education worth more than toilet paper. SEC fans do us a favor and do not attempt to compare SEC schools with the Big Ten, really.

by: Pete Van Weird

Hello to all the big ten conference losers who get to sit on the sidelines while the SEC plays for the national championship.....again.....and again....and again....meanwhile, snow shovelers, you harken back to 1942 and talk about dead coaches. Also, meanwhile, you sign your notes as anonymous. Your best big ten team barely competes with our middle level teams, and you know it. And as for executives and analysts, if your big ten cronies were not involved with it at all, we would have a playoff instead of all the bean counting you northern stiffs do trying to figure out how to get back to football relevance. Suck on that icicle, moron. It all boils down to this: who are the national college football champions? Can't talk your way around that, can you, big time CEO?

SEC cheats
by: Anonymous

Maybe if the SEC raised their standards they wouldn't get all the good but semi-retarded players they got. Jordan Jefferson for LSU couldn't even tell who Thomas Jefferson our 3rd president was. (But he did get the basketball, and black actor Jefferson's right go figure). Even Nick Fairly cant speak a sentence right without slurring his words. Compared to the B10's stupidest school (MSU) they still have higher standards than SEC's smartest school ( Vanderbilt ). But not by much. SO raise the standards or shut up

Vanderbilt?
by: Pete Van Weird

Okay so we have gotten past your ridiculous league comparison on this web site. Yes. Georgia handed you a win. Still, mishgan skrate had less than a hundred yards rushing, overall. Your big girl ten sucks, they have sucked since Woody punched the Clemson player in the throat, and the whole league sucks to this day. Wisconsin cannot compete, ohio state cannot compete, Nebraska (Nebraska in the big "fill in the blank" league....????) so....what's left? Luck??
Oh, yeah, luck is how mishgan skrate won. You are now, officially, out of luck.

The guy was quoting all time between teams CURRENTLY in both conferences and he was quoting all games played. BOWL GAMES ARE separate. When neb was in the big 12 counts for the big 12, not the big ten, etc etc.

PSU, mizz, texas am, etc. THE SEC is 42-25 all time in bowls versus the big ten. MORONS post on here , I am just here to clean up the work with the facts.
