BIG 10 RULES!!!!

by CHRIS S.
(BELLEVILLE, IL)

THE BIG 10 FOOTBALL HAVE 39 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS LOOK IT UP.

ILL-5 (14,19,23,27,51)
PENN-4 (11,12,82,86)
OHIO-7 (42,54,57,61,68,70,02)
MICH ST-6 (51,52,55,57,65,66)
MINN-6 (34,35,36,40,54,60)
MICH-11 (01,02,03,04,18,23,32,33,47,48,97)

Editor's Note: Thanks Chris for the info. As noted, for this page, we only count National Championships since 1936. Reason is that's when the AP began its poll and that's when we first had a "consensus" national champ. Prior to that there were numerous polls and numerous teams crowned "National Champs." Of course, even after '36 there continued to be numerous polls and it appears you have counted several NC's from minor polls. Finally, of course, the SEC only began in 1932; so it's a bit unfair to add in NC's from years that the SEC didn't exist -- at least if you are comparing conferences.

Again, though, thanks for the info.

So, take it since 1932. Even up to the BCS we had multiple National Champions. AP wasn't the only poll recognized so that is not a valid argument. So if you see Chris S. argument the Big Ten has 25 national championships (not including Penn State's). Give the Big Ten some credit, year in and year out they may be the best conference in football.
