Auburn's Loss to South Florida

by Jonathan
(Charleston)

Auburn's loss to the University of South Florida was a tragic day. Even the blindest, daftest, most underfunctional squirrels can occasionally find a nut. And that is by far what occured.

What I don't hear is a single USF fan claiming they would have beaten Auburn last year, or actually any time in the prior history of the conference.

But maybe that's due to the fact that South Florida has only been around for a decade. Whereas Auburn has had a football program for the better part of what, a century?

Editor's Note: Jonathan -- I agree with your main point that one win does not make a football program or football conference. Certainly, Auburn's football history and tradition is much deeper and better than USF's and the SEC's more than the Big East's.

But, certainly, USF and Big East football deserves credit for dramatic improvement. (See comments at bottom of SEC vs Big East Football page).

And, Auburn, a second home loss, this time to Miss. State -- wow, it's not a good year for the Tigers -- so far anyway.
