The Georgia Bulldogs who finished 3rd in the SEC East got invited to the Peach Bowl. Georgia Bulldogs came with a record of 8-3, 6-2 in SEC play; Virginia Cavaliers’ record was 9-2, 6-2 in ACC play. Georgia Bulldogs were ranked 19, while Virginia was ranked number 13. These two teams met in the Peach Bowl in 1995, Virginia won 34-27 in that contest.

Both teams didn’t score any points in the 1st quarter. Virginia got on the board first in the 2nd quarter on an Anthony Southern 2 yard touchdown run. After the Bulldogs couldn’t move the ball down the field, Virginia Cavaliers came back marching down the field. Aaron Brooks threw a 43 yard touchdown pass to Terrence Wilkins to lead 14-0. Virginia wasn’t finished just yet. Georgia Bulldogs then again couldn’t move the ball down the field. Virginia came back roaring on an Aaron Brooks 24 yard touchdown pass to Thomas Jones to make a 21-0 lead. The Bulldogs FINALLY got on the board just before halftime. Quincy Carter threw an 11 yard touchdown pass to Torrance Small to make it 21-7.

In the 3rd quarter, Georgia scored two touchdowns to tie the game.

Quincy Carter threw a 14 yard touchdown pass to Boss Bailey. The score is now 21-14, down by a touchdown. Now it’s a game! Georgia is now making some noise. Virginia got the ball, couldn’t do anything. Georgia then again came marching down the field; Olandis Gary scored a 15 yard touchdown run to tie the game. Before the 3rd quarter was finished, Virginia scored another touchdown pass. Aaron Brooks threw a 67 yard touchdown pass to Terrence Wilkins. But with the extra point being missed, the score is 27-21. That would be costly later in the game.

In the 4th quarter, here comes excitement for Bulldogs fans. Olandis Gary gave the Bulldogs the lead for the first time on a 2 yard touchdown run. The score is now 28-27. After Virginia couldn’t do anything on offense, the Bulldogs got their offense running again. The Bulldogs kept marching down the field, and then Quincy Carter scored a 1 yard touchdown run. The score is now 35-27. Things are looking up for the Bulldogs now! Virginia Cavaliers came back running down the field. Aaron Brooks scored a 30 yard touchdown run to pull within 2. Virginia tried a 2 point conversion, couldn’t convert. The score is now 35-33.

Virginia went for the onside kick, and they recovered. So here we go again for the Bulldogs, the defense now has to stop Virginia. Virginia went down the field and with time expiring, they elect to kick a field goal. Todd Braverman missed the field goal, Georgia WINS!! After being down by 21 points, the Bulldogs came back and win an incredible game in the Peach Bowl.
