Mo, from SEC Sports Fan back at you.

The BEST time of the year for sports is upon us. We just finished with the Olympics. [By the way, during the olympics our page about the best all-time olympic swimmer got TONS of visitors -- pictures of Mark Spitz and Michael Phelps.] Baseball pennant races are coming down to the wire. The U.S. Open Tennis Tournament is in full swing. The NFL kicks off this Thursday.

But, most of all, SEC Football is back!

Most of you probably watched the Alabama - Clemson game Saturday night. Alabama made a huge statement about its football team by dismantling the ACC's top team -- Clemson. You may have heard various prognosticators (like ESPN's Kirk Herbsteit) proclaiming that Clemson had the best running game in America. Well, against Alabama they gained 0 yards. And, the Clemson offense managed only one field goal in a 34-10 spanking (got only TD on kickoff return). You can read more about it at Alabama Crimson Tide Football.

But, that game also said a lot about the strength of SEC Football as the 5th or 6th best SEC team (according to most polls) clobbered the best ACC football on a neutral field.

And, it was no fluke as South Carolina shut out the ACC's NC State last Thursday. And, Kentucky took apart Louisville, from the Big East.

The only fly in the ointment was Tennessee's loss to UCLA in overtime, at UCLA. Read more about that at Tennessee Volunteers Football.

Anyway, we are just at the beginning, so lots and lots more great SEC football to come. You can always get a quick summary of what happened last week and what will happen this weekend at SEC Football Predictions.

If you want to read our preview of the season, check out SEC Football. We were dead on last year and looking good so far this year too (we picked Alabama to win the SEC West; Georgia the East; and Georgia to win the BCS Championship. But, Florida looks awesome too.

If you still need fan apparel or merchandise; maybe a fathead, check out SEC Sports Fan Store. While there, look at the top right hand corner of the page and you'll see a link to a great place to buy your football tickets. Or most any tickets for that matter.

As far as developments with the web site -- we are always growing. Always adding more pictures and content. A couple more bloggers have joined our team, more about them to come. We've recently redesigned the site; making it wider, with more stuff on each page.

We also have formed a partnership with the #1 SEC sports fan forum on the web -- SEC Talk -- SEC Talk. What a great site that is with great SEC fans always there, 24 hours a day, talking mostly SEC Football. But, lots more too. So, check it out!

Finally, we are always looking for new ideas, partnerships, links, and content. So, if you have any ideas along those lines or would like to help in any way, please send me an e-mail at mo[at] or use our contact form at Contact Us.

Thanks and

Mo Johnson Publisher, SEC Sports Fan
